Napoleon Hill, after studying over 500 successful people for over 20 years in early 1900, in his book that was the result of this research, Think and Grow Rich, said: “Those who reach decisions promptly and definitely, know what they want and generally get it. The leaders in every walk of life decide quickly, and firmly. That is the major reason they are leaders. The world has a habit of making room for the person whose words and actions show they know where they are going.”

The activity of mixing a vision with the decision to achieve it, it’s called Goal Setting. A goal is something you’ve never done before and by pursuing it, you start drawing something from within that you didn’t even know it was there, it will make you grow. There are 3 types of goals:

“A” type goals are those goals that you know how to achieve them. You’ve done them before, you know how to do them and by doing them again you obtain the same results you already have. There is no growth associated with them. i.e. if you ever bought a new car, setting a goal to buy another new car is not quite a goal, it’s a plan because you’ve done it before, you know how to do it and you know you can achieve it.

“B” type goals are those kinds of goals conditioned by circumstances, that you think you can achieve them, if this and that fall into place. You rely on outside events, people, results out of your control. i.e. you want to buy a house for the first time. You’ve never done it before, you know you can achieve it because you’ve seen others doing it and you make a plan to save money for a deposit, apply for a mortgage and if you have achieved these conditions, you have achieved your goal – it’s actually a more elaborate plan.

“C” type goals are your visions, your wants. You’ve never done them, and you have no clue “HOW” to achieve them. This is what we call a goal! Your goal has to be so big that it must scare you and excite you at the same time. The way you set up a “C” type goal – you take the vision from your mind and you write it down. You then have to ask yourself the following: “Am I Willing?” are you willing to do whatever it takes to achieve your vision? And “Am I Able?” Are you able to do whatever it takes to achieve this vision?

You can only do this by making the decision NOW and HERE with what you have and where you are, that from this moment onwards, you’re heading towards your goal no matter what. This is where you tell yourself: “I Am Willing, and I Am Able!”

Do Not let outside conditions and circumstances dictate how you will live your life. Do Not allow anything that’s going on outside of you stop you from living the way you want. As you get emotionally involved in the goal, the expression of that emotional involvement is going to change your behavior. As your behavior changes, the results start to change.

Once you decided that you are able and willing to do whatever it takes, your vision moves to the status of Goal, and this is how you create a “C” type goal.

“We Become What We Think About!”

Individuals without a goal are lost. They have no compass. You’ve got to wake up in the morning and get excited: “I’m working towards my goal!” You have tremendous creative potential and you owe it to yourself to use it and create the vision of your life.

Everything you see around you was once an idea that was conceived in the imagination through a vision, a fantasy. A carriage without a horse was once a vision that became a goal in someone’s mind. A flying object heavier than the air was once a fantasy that became a goal in someone’s mind and so on.

What’s your Fantasy?

What’s your Vision?

What’s your Dream?

Now that you thought of your vision, write it down and look at it and say: “I already have achieved this goal!” How does it feel? Like a lie? It should, and this is where it gets interesting. We spoke a few days back that ”there is no such thing as something for nothing”, which means we must give something first in order to receive what we want. And we’re going to focus on your daily job or the business you’re running for now. If you’re not working or you don’t like the job you’re in, think of your dream job and what would you want to do in this job, if it’s a business you want to run, what service you want to offer through your business?

To begin with, so you can gain confidence in its efficiency, start with something small, like a sum of money you want for something you want to do, wherever is a vacation, a deposit for a new car, house wherever it is you want to achieve and you need some money for, to get it started. On a small piece of paper (card or a note on your smartphone) write down the following statement:

I have (state the amount of money you want), which will come to me in various amounts from time to time by (state the date when you want this money by).

In return for this money, I am giving the most efficient service of which I am capable, offering the fullest possible quantity and the best possible quality of service (state the products or service you’re willing to provide through your activity) in the capacity of (state your job title or position).

I believe that I have this money in my possession. My faith is so strong, that I can now see this money before my eyes, and I can touch it with my hands. It is now awaiting transfer to me at a time and in the proportion that I deliver (state again the product/service you intend to exchange for this money).

I am now awaiting a plan by which to accumulate this money and I will follow this plan when it is received.”

This statement is an extract from Napoleon Hill’s book Think and Grow Rich

Put this piece of paper in your pocket and take it with you everywhere you go. Every day, when you wake up, go in front of the mirror and read this out laud. Then as you go on with your day read it at least 10 more times (you can choose to do it all at once or spread it across the day). At the end of the day, before you go to bed, read it again.

As you do this, your mind will start to see opportunities – listen to your heart and act on every inspired thought that comes to you and that feels good.

Please note that this money will not come to you in the form or the shape you expect. Your focus should NEVER be on where the money is coming from or how are going to come. Think of it as a miracle that may come in ANY form or shape from ANYWHERE. Do not waste a single second on figuring out how or where you’ll have achieved your goal. If this thought comes to mind, simply think that there are millions of ways this can happen and shift to a thought of how you’ll feel when you’ve achieved your goal.

Thank you for reading.

Love and Peace!
